Placing an increased emphasis on environmental and social impact is essential for a modern business – right down to the uniforms you choose. As a contemporary apparel brand, NNT has made an ongoing commitment to sustainability and we understand that you, our customers, are doing the same.

At NNT, our mission is to have a positive influence through the products we create with minimal impact on the planet we share. We’re working hard across all areas of the business to deliver a strong sustainable agenda both for our customers and our community at large. From the ethical sourcing of recycled and natural materials to ensuring conscious design practices, we’re striving to produce our products in a responsible manner together with our partners.

We also maintain a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and collaborate with suppliers to improve their social and environmental practices, protecting workers and preventing exploitation. We stay accountable through strict external auditing measures that ensure our processes remain fair and ethical.

And this is resonating with our clients – businesses large and small who are committed to operating more sustainably and ethically, too. We know that reducing environmental impact can improve business sustainability in the long term. Less waste equals less cost and less risk. Other benefits include increased loyalty from customers and improved brand perception, too. But it’s not enough to simply talk the talk. As more consumers make choices based on both environmental and social impact, it has never been more important to incorporate meaningful change across all facets of business, including the uniforms you choose for your staff.

This is where NNT can help. We’re proud to be leading the charge within the uniform industry and will continue to push boundaries to make real change. Our current initiatives include using Global Recycle Standard (GRS)-certified recycled polyester, spun from post-consumer PET bottles, in a range of our designs. This unique process sees unwanted plastic bottles shredded, melted and spun into yarn that is woven into a soft and luxurious material, diverting single-use plastics from landfill while creating a sustainable fabric solution.

Both our new Georgie and Avignon textiles seamlessly incorporate this recycled yarn. Avignon fuses it with Better Cotton (BC) cotton and a hint of Elastane to create the ideal shirting material for corporate uniforms. Meanwhile, Georgie is a lightweight and elegant georgette that’s crafted entirely from recycled plastic bottles and is ideal for either office or allied health environments. Just released for the new season, the Avignon Shirt Dress  and Georgie Short Sleeve Blouse  are fashion-conscious examples of workwear that looks good, feels good and does good. And they make a great conversation point for your team and your customers.

But don’t just take our word for it – both these revolutionary fabrics boast international certifications. You can find out more about their credentials, including their GRS and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® labels here.

Work in healthcare? You’ll appreciate our Next-Gen Antibacterial Scrubs. They come treated with Polygiene® technology, an environmentally conscious antimicrobial finish that keeps the wearer feeling fresh and comfortable. This unique coating features a minimal environmental footprint thanks to an optimised application process and will extend the lifespan of your garments for double the impact.

We’re also utilising more natural fibres such as BC cotton and pure Australian merino wool in our designs. Inherently breathable, comfortable and durable, these premium natural textiles are a pleasure to wear and are exceptionally easy to care for. Our popular merino knitwear offers a lightweight layer of warmth, ideal when you’re on the go.

It’s also important to consider what happens to your uniforms when they’ve reached the end of their lifespan. NNT has committed to keeping textile waste from landfill to reduce environmental impact. Together with our customers, we’ve already diverted significant volumes of obsolete workwear away from landfill as sustainably as possible. We’ve also partnered with garment end-of-life organisations to recycle, upcycle and repurpose our products with a focus on Australian-based solutions and ethical supply partners.

To further reduce waste and maintain a relevant product offering aligned with your business needs, NNT commits to extensive product testing in the environment for which each garment is designed. We engage with front-line teams to wear and trial any new product innovation for a minimum of four weeks and take user feedback before any launch. This ensures the design is fit for purpose and meets the needs of businesses just like yours.

So, be proud of the workwear you choose to wear, not simply because it looks great or provides fit-for-purpose functionality (which comes standard with all NNT designs); but because it’s created through mindful manufacture and responsible production. Find out more about NNT’s continuing commitment to sustainability and how it can benefit your business by visiting The Good Thread on our website. Together, we can make a difference.
